Jupiter Medical Centers Board has approved plans to dramatically expand facilities and clinical services over the next several years. Board action signals continued commitment to meet the growing needs of the community and comes as the first phase of expansion nears completion. Implementation of key components of the hospitals master facilities plan, including a state-of-the-art Heart & Vascular Center and a new multi-story Outpatient Center were among projects approved by the Board.
The new plans come as the hospital is nearing completion on a series of projects including addition of an 8-bed Progressive Care Unit, expansion of the Pharmacy and of the Emergency Department, all substantially funded by individual donations. With heart disease as JMCs number one diagnosis, the Heart & Vascular Center, which will include a Cardiac Cath Lab located on the hospitals first floor, is the cornerstone of the expansion plan. The second major component of the plan is the construction of a 100,000-square-foot Outpatient Center, to be located at JMCs nearby Outpatient Campus on Military Trail. It will house several services relocating from the main campus, as well as an Urgent Care Center featuring rapid diagnosis and treatment. In addition, 80 percent of Outpatient Diagnostic Imaging services now provided at the hospital will be relocated to the new facility. The existing Womens Diagnostics Center with a new Breast Center program, Pediatric Rehabilitation, Pain Management and Wound Care also will operate out of the new Outpatient Center. Additionally, the hospital will add five beds to the Intensive Care Unit to meet surging patient needs. In preparation for the expansion program, the hospital will first address crucial infrastructure improvements. The board approved the initial development of a two-story, 14,000-square-foot Central Energy Plant and an 1,800-square-foot expansion of the Information Technology Data Center.
