Jupiter Medical Center announced today that they have wrapped up a successful spring season with awards recognizing the excellence of their programs and accreditations. The team at the Center continually reevaluates how to best serve the community’s health and wellness, and these recognitions are evidence of that endeavor.
Wound Care & Hyperbaric Services Recognized with National Awards for Excellence
Jupiter Medical Center’s Wound Care & Hyperbaric Services were recently honored with two awards from Healogics, the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services. First, the program received the Center of Distinction Award in recognition of its outstanding clinical outcomes, including patient satisfaction higher than 92 percent, and a minimum wound healing rate of at least 91 percent within 30 median days to heal. The Medical Center also received the Robert A. Warriner III, M.D., Center of Excellence award for maintaining the same high standards for a minimum of two consecutive years. The award is named for a pioneer in wound care. Jupiter Medical Center provides advanced treatments for acute and chronic wounds that have lingered for more than 30 days. The team offers a wide range of therapies, including bio-engineered skin substitutes, negative pressure therapy and biosynthetic skin grafting. If hyperbaric oxygen treatment is needed, there is no other local center that offers patients greater comfort. Jupiter Medical Center uses the industry’s largest monoplace chambers designed to provide individualized treatment to a single person. Other centers have chambers designed for group therapy and patients are required to wear a mask for oxygen delivery.
Re-Accreditation with the Commission on Cancer
The Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons (ACoS) has once again granted full accreditation to the cancer program at Jupiter Medical Center. To earn voluntary CoC accreditation, a cancer program must meet 34 CoC quality standards, be evaluated every three years through a survey process, and maintain levels of excellence in the delivery of comprehensive patient-centered care. CoC-accredited cancer centers take a multidisciplinary approach to treating cancer as a complex group of diseases that requires consultation among surgeons, medical and radiation oncologists, diagnostic radiologists, pathologists, and other cancer specialists. This accreditation demonstrates that the Ella Milbank Foshay Cancer Center and the Margaret W. Niedland Breast Center are home to uniquely skilled physicians who utilize state-of-the-art technology to bring high-quality cancer care to the community, resulting in improved patient care.
Most Wired Hospital Award
Jupiter Medical Center has also been honored with the Most Wired Hospital Award by Hospitals & Health Networks for the third year in a row. The distinction is presented annually to hospitals making the most progress in the adoption of health information technology, resulting in lower readmission rates and a higher standard of patient care. Healthcare’s Most Wired Award, sponsored by Hospitals & Health Networks, is a tool used to measure the amount of IT integration taking place in US hospitals and healthcare centers. Jupiter Medical Center was again recognized as one of the nation’s Most Wired healthcare providers, achieving significant development in four key areas of IT: infrastructure, business and administrative management, clinical quality and safety, and clinical integration.
