The Lee Memorial Health System Foundation Board recently approved additional funding – augmenting $100,000 in grant funds previously received from the Naples Children and Education Foundation’s (NCEF) Winter Wine Festival – to purchase a new mobile emergency medical unit for use by The Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida. The ambulance contains all of the latest pediatric equipment and technology to begin hospital-level medical treatment immediately upon arriving at the site of the emergency.

The ambulance’s primary use will be for infants born prematurely, but is also used to transport mothers and babies in emergency or high-risk situations even in the cases of full-term deliveries.
