“Leon Medical Centers Tower Suites at Jackson South” Opens This Week

Leon Medical Centers announced a $2.5 million donation to the Jackson Health Foundation, the fundraising arm of Jackson Health System, for naming rights of the new fourth floor of Jackson South Community Hospital. The gift also includes future naming rights for the top floor at Jackson West, a new hospital campus planned for the City of Doral.

Officials from Leon Medical Centers will present a check to Jackson leaders during a ceremony Monday, August 1, at 3 p.m. at Jackson South, 9333 S.W. 152nd Street, Miami, 33176. The fourth floor will be named the “Leon Medical Centers Tower Suites at Jackson South.”

“The partnership between Jackson Health System and Leon Medical Centers is bringing two of Miami-Dade County’s most respected and beloved medical institutions even closer together,” said Carlos A. Migoya, president and CEO of Jackson Health System. “We thank Leon Medical Centers for its generosity and support of the high quality medical care practiced each and every day at Jackson South.”

Jackson South recently completed a modernization projection of the hospital’s fourth floor. The floor has 24 private rooms, and it features dialysis service, telemetry, and a dedicated physician dictation area, as well as a comfortable family lounge outfitted with modern amenities, such as charging stations and work space. The floor is scheduled to open to patients this week.

“This year we celebrate our 20-year anniversary of providing medical care to patients in Miami-Dade and it is because of partners like Jackson Health System that we have been able to practice medical excellence at the level I envisioned when I started Leon Medical Centers 20 years ago,” said Benjamín León, Jr., founder of Leon Medical Centers. “It is an honor to show our appreciation through this donation as we join together in improving the quality of health care in this community and strive for the medical excellence all our patients deserve.”

Jackson South recently celebrated its 15th anniversary serving the community in South Miami-Dade County. The hospital offers a full spectrum of services and is staffed by nationally recognized, board-certified physicians and allied healthcare professionals who practice a wide array of specialties.

Support from community partners, such as Leon Medical Centers, allows Jackson to continue building upon its excellence in medical care.

“We are pleased to accept this generous gift from Leon Medical Centers,” said Jackson Health Foundation President and CEO Keith R. Tribble. “Since 1996, the Leon Medical Centers have been providers of healthcare services to residents of the South Florida community. This extraordinary gift not only represents their continued commitment to the health and well-being of the South Florida community, it will also enable Jackson Health System to continue its commitment to provide world-class health care in convenient locations throughout Miami-Dade County.”

Since opening in 1996, Leon Medical Centers has grown to become one of Miami’s leading healthcare services providers, serving Medicare patients in seven centers conveniently located throughout Miami-Dade County and satellite locations in many South Florida hospitals.
Speakers at the ceremony include Jackson Health System President and CEO Carlos A. Migoya; Jackson Health Foundation President and CEO Keith R. Tribble; Leon Medical Centers founder Benjamín León, Jr.; and Leon Medical Centers President Albert Maury.
