Gail Pasterczyk and Nicole Martinez of Elbridge Gale Elementary School were honored at The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) annual volunteer reception on June 14th at the Schumacher Infiniti Showroom in West Palm Beach. This school year marked Elbridge Gale’s 10th year of participation in Pennies for Patients with over $100,000 in total funds raised for LLS. They also continued their reign as the top fundraising school in Palm Beach County for Pennies for Patients.

This school year more than 80,000 students and 107 schools in the Palm Beach Area participated in the student series resulting in over $175,000 in donations, a 42% increase over last year! These amazing students, teachers and families are showing blood cancer that it doesn’t stand a chance.

The 2017-2018 school year was the launch of LLS’s K-5 STEM curriculum. Through these lesson plans, students and teachers experienced an in-depth look at LLS-funded science and the researchers that are supported by the student series fundraising efforts. They are looking forward to expanding the STEM curriculum to include middle school for the 2018-2019 school year. Their hope is to inspire the scientists of tomorrow.

LLS would like to extend a special thank you to the Palm Beach Children’s Hospital at St. Mary’s for sponsoring the student series this year. It was an honor to partner with Brittany Wilson and the amazing staff at the hospital.
