South Florida-based Link Construction Group has been contracted by Miami-Dade County Public Schools (MDCPS) for the new construction of the Downtown Doral Charter Elementary School. Zyscovich Architects out of Miami has designed the 53,250-square-foot brand-new, state-of-the-art facility with amuch sought-after language program that will serve 800 students. The school will be the first of its kind, built and managed in partnership with Miami-Dade County Public Schools and Codina Partners. The facility will house grades PK-5 and will contain many different aspects not always found in typical elementary schools such as science, art and language arts labs which will include Spanish and French. Technology will include Smart Boards, Smart TV’s, and wireless connectivity for student devices such as iPads. The facility will also include a playground for Pre-k and Kindergarteners as well as a new soccer field and parking lot for staff and visitors and is slated for completion mid-2015.
