Lourdes Canñete, Volunteer Coordinator HospiceCare of Southeast Florida – Miami-Dade
HospiceCare of Southeast Florida welcomes Lourdes Canñete as the new Volunteer Coordinator for Miami-Dade County. A native of Miami, Lourdes has always been committed to improving the lives of Miami families and promoting community connections. In her previous capacity as the Vice President of Marketing and Development for Florida Venture Foundation, Lourdes helped at-risk students in Miami-Dade believe in themselves and guided them towards a successful future.
As Volunteer Coordinator, Lourdes is responsible for recruiting, training and retaining volunteers to support and supplement the care and services provided by HospiceCare. “My focus as Volunteer Coordinator is to communicate to our volunteers my deep appreciation for the work they do. In the time that I have been a part of this dynamic team, I have never felt more challenged professionally and personally. I am committed to bring awareness to these remarkable individuals. They give so much and play an amazing role in this organization,” Lourdes Canñete.
Lourdes has many exciting developments in store for the HospiceCare volunteer program. One of her goals is to develop a community service program for high school students, called Young Hearts. The Young Hearts Program will give Miamis future community leaders the opportunity to give back to their community while learning invaluable community-building skills. “It has always been important for me to bring people together, “Lourdes says, “We all care for our community, we just need to get involved.”
