The Rural Health Network of Monroe County recently presented its annual Lignum Vitae Award to Bob Luse, Chief Executive Officer for Mariners Hospital. The award is given to an individual, group or organization that has done the most to help the Network achieve its mission of improving access to and quality of health care for all residents of Monroe County.

Luse was recognized for his outstanding support and leadership of the Network as its Chair of the Board for the past three years. “Thanks to Bobs leadership, the Network is better poised to receive federal funding, boasts a Governing Board that is consumer dominated and has overseen the planned centralization of operations for the efficient delivery of all medical services offered by the organization,” said Mark Szurek, executive director of the Rural Health Network.
In addition to serving as CEO of Mariners Hospital, Luse is active in the Upper Keys community. He serves on the board of directors of the Key Largo Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the Islamorada Chamber of Commerce and the Islamorada Fishing Club.
