Are you are confused about what you want to study, but yet want something in the medical field? Do you want a career which is relatively short, yet you can use it as a stepping stone to continue to other venues? Then Medical Assisting may be the right choice for you. At Miami Dade College Medical Center Campus we offer a one-year Medical Assisting Certificate Program which can get you ready to take that step. It is a full-time program which opens many doors once you graduate. After you graduate, you can work in doctors’ offices, clinics, and hospitals. Additionally, you are eligible to sit for the following exams: Pharmacy Technician, Phlebotomy Technician, Basic X-ray Technician, EKG Technician, and the RMA to become a Registered Medical Assistant.

So, you want to work part-time once you graduate and further your studies? You can apply to Miami Dade College Transitional Nursing Program to become an RN (Registered Nurse). Of course, you will need to fulfill all of the prerequisites; but you have already taken a big step. Once a student graduates from the program, many doors of opportunity awaits you.

Employment growth will be driven by the increase in the number of group practices, clinics, and other health care facilities that need a high proportion of support personnel, particularly the flexible medical assistant who can handle both administrative and clinical duties.

At Miami Dade College a rewarding educational and career path awaits you whether you choose to maintain employment as a Medical Assistant or also acquire Registered Nursing (RN) licensure.
