In 1977, medical resident Carl Rosenkrantz opened his first Citibank account and received his first Citibank MasterCard. Twenty-eight years later, he is still a loyal customer, using Citibank services for both his personal banking needs and for his independent practice association, Imaging Consultants of South Florida.

“Having one bank for all of my financial needs has made life easier,” he explained. “And as a result of Citibank’s ease of use, most of my partners also have CitiGold accounts.”

According to Francisco ‘Paco’ Gonzalez, Citibank’s commercial banking regional manager, the company works with their clients in a consultative role to determine which services would work best for them. “We sit down and ask key questions that help both us and the client understand what areas need to be addressed to reach both their business and personal goals,” he said. “Our approach is not to offer a product, but to find solutions for their needs.”

Some of the solutions that medical professionals find most useful on the business side include cash management systems to assist with day-to-day collections of payments, and customized financing programs. Customized financing can be used for buying office or condo space, buying or leasing equipment, making improvements on rented space, acquiring a practice and more.

“On the personal banking side, we also have great solutions like CitiGold, which is a bundled approach that physicians can use to address their day-to-day banking needs, investment needs and credit needs,” said Gonzalez.

While Dr. Rosenkrantz takes advantage of personal banking services like CitiMortgage, as well as business services like a business checking account and a revolving line of credit, he says that it is the people, even more than the products, which keep him coming back. “While the product is good, the people are better—they are wonderful to work with,” he explained. “I’ve been dealing with the same people at Citibank for a long time, and they make it easy. I would highly recommend them.”

“Our staff is key to serving our clients; they are personally committed to the industry and enjoy watching medical practices continue to achieve their goals,” Gonzalez agreed. “They take an active role, visiting their clients often.”

And this can mean being physically available even outside of banking hours. “One of our bankers met a physician at 6:30 a.m., and another waited outside of the emergency room to have documents signed for a tax account,” said Gonzalez. “We are willing to provide the additional ‘hands-on’ services that many clients require.”

Clients can also access their accounts in other ways, including through the Internet. “I access all of my information on-line, and I also have fast access to my Citibanker, Binmatee ‘B’ Sohan, as well,” said Rosenkrantz. “This way, I can transfer money quickly and get answers quickly.”

Because each client is different, Gonzalez says that Citibank works with them to customize not only their products, but their modes of communication. “Many healthcare professionals want to see their banker only once per year and communicate via email,” he said. “Others like quarterly meetings and have an assigned banker. Still others want to get answers with one phone call, so they call our Service Group directly. Whatever method the client chooses, we are ready to customize.”

“When we are learning about our clients, and we learn daily as our clients’ needs change, we make sure that all methods of service are made available to them,” said Citibank Palm Beach Manager Katherine Van Brocklin. “This allows doctors, like Dr. Rosenkrantz for example, the mechanism to get things done quickly.”

And with more than 30 locations in South Florida and plans to expand, Citibank is also ready to grow as their clients’ practices grow. Within the next few years, the company plans to add more locations in both the Broward and Palm Beach areas, where they will continue to meet the needs of those in the healthcare field.

“We want people to know that banking with Citibank can simplify their banking needs,” said Gonzalez.
