Hospital will celebrate its patronage and namesake on Facebook Live on Thursday September 24th at 6:00 pm

September 22, 2020 – Mercy Hospital, Miami-Dade County’s only acute care catholic hospital, is excited to announce that its Thirty-Third Annual Feast of our Lady of Mercy Mass will be live streamed on Facebook on Thursday September 24, beginning at 6:00 pm. The mass will be available for viewing on Facebook Live at www.facebook.com/MercyHospitalMiami. The Main Celebrant will be Bishop Enrique Delgado.

Every September 24th, Catholics celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Mercy as a powerful symbol of faith while enduring physical, psychological or spiritual hardships. Her image across many countries is associated with health, healing and peace of soul.

“Mercy Hospital takes a holistic approach to healthcare that focuses on mind, body and spirit. Throughout the pandemic, our pastoral care team has remained onsite to support our patients’ emotional wellbeing and we have been one of the only hospitals in South Florida to offer services such as the sacrament of the sick, spiritual and emotional support at the bedside.” Said David Donaldson, CEO of Mercy Hospital. “This live stream epitomizes how we are embracing technology and adapting our operations to prioritize safety while continuing to help fulfill the spiritual needs of our community.”

Mercy Hospital has a long and compelling history that is built on faith. The hospital first opened in 1950 after being founded by The Dioceses of St. Augustine and Sisters of St Joseph. In 1960, the Sisters opened our doors to some of the first Cuban exile physicians and provided free medical care to any member of the Bay of Pigs Brigade the following year. To this day, Mercy remains the only catholic hospital in Miami-Dade.

Mercy Hospital has developed a reputation for excellence by providing high quality healthcare services to the South Florida community for more than 60 years. The hospital’s service offerings include: emergency services, maternity with level II NICU, general and robotic surgery, cardiology, orthopedic and spine, cancer care, hyperbaric and wound care center, primary stroke center, weight loss programs and more.

Due to safety precautions surrounding COVID-19, Mercy Hospital’s chapel and hospital grounds will be closed to the general public during the mass.
