Cardiac Electrophysiologist Juan Viles-Gonzalez, M.D., FACC, FAHA, FEHRA, FHRS, has joined Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute, part of Baptist Health South Florida and the region’s largest and most comprehensive cardiovascular facility. He will serve as Medical Director of Arrhythmia Management for Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute Cardiology. Triple board certified in cardiac electrophysiology, cardiovascular medicine and internal medicine, Dr. Viles-Gonzalez specializes in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of complex cardiac arrhythmias and their risk factors. He has distinctive training and expertise in cardiac electrophysiology, making him uniquely qualified to assess the heart’s electrical system and diagnose and treat abnormal heartbeats and arrhythmias. Dr. Viles-Gonzalez will see patients at 7400 SW 87 Avenue, Suite 100, in Miami.

Dr. Viles-Gonzalez earned his medical degree at Universidad de Buenos Aires, Facultad de Medicina, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA. He also completed a cardiology fellowship and a cardiac electrophysiology fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital, Mount Sinai School of Medicine, in New York, NY. Prior to joining Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute, he was director of Cardiac Electrophysiology at Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans, LA. 
 
While at Wertheim College of Medicine, Florida International University, Dr. Viles-Gonzalez was appointed Professor of Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, Fellow of the American Heart Association, Fellow of the Heart Rhythm Society and a member of several other professional societies. He conducts clinical research in his specialty to increase the efficacy of treatments and improve patient outcomes. He is widely published in peer-reviewed scientific journals and textbooks and is an invited speaker at national and international cardiology conferences. Dr. Viles-Gonzalez serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology and Heart Rhythm Journal Case Reports and as a reviewer for several other medical publications.
