On Mitzvah Day, at the Miami Jewish Home & Hospital, it is a tradition to ask people of all ages and their pets to come to the campus and get involved in a variety of activities with the frail elderly who live at the Home. These include everything from doing arts and crafts with the residents, playing games like scrabble and bridge, pet therapy, giving them lessons on the internet to working on the garden to help beautify the campus. Mitzvah Day is sponsored by Next Generation, a support group at the Home that enhances the lives of the elderly residents living there.
