Nelson Lazo Earns Barry Univ. Distinguished Alumni Award

Barry University recently honored alumnus Nelson Lazo, CEO of Doctor’s Hospital, with its Distinguished Alumni Award. Lazo was among seven Barry alumni to receive the honors, the highest granted by Barry to its graduates.

 

Lazo is a prominent civic leader who earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Barry University in 1984. Lazo works as the Chief Executive Officer of Doctors Hospital in Coral Gables, an affiliate of Baptist Health South Florida. Lazo is a member of the Orange Bowl Committee, the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce and is on the executive committee of the board of the Beacon Council among many other organizations. A veteran healthcare administrator, Lazo worked as CEO of Baptist Health’s Mariners Hospital in Tavernier as well as Chief Operating Officer for Parkway Regional Medical Center in North Miami Beach among many chief positions throughout Florida and the country.
