Nicole Gordon, MS, PharmD, clinical hospital pharmacists in Drug Information Services at Jackson Memorial Hospital, has been named the 2004 Pharmacist of the Year by the Association of Black Health-system Pharmacists (ABHP).
Gordon is recognized for her leadership, mentoring, and dedicated and voluntary contribution to the profession of pharmacy that has promoted and elevated the vision of pharmacy practice in the South Florida area. She has also raised awareness of the impact of pharmacists over the last year through organized community health fairs, coordinated patient education presentations in the community and at her hospital practice site, and by securing passage of significant resolutions affecting membership in her state pharmacy association. Her mentoring and example to pharmacy students and residents over the past year has helped launch research projects and ideas which have been presented both nationally and internationally in the audience of her peers.
Gordon is also a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pharmacy for NOVA Southeastern University, Florida A&M University, and the University of Florida. Gordon earned her B.S. degree in Pharmacy from St Johns University, her M.S. degree in Pharmacotherapy from Long Island University and her Pharm.D. degree from the University of Florida. She currently serves as the Chair of the Florida Society of Health-system Pharmacists (FSHP) Organizational Affairs Council and Immediate Past President of the South Florida Society of Health-System Pharmacists (SFSHP). Recognized by her peers and colleagues, she has received the FSHP Organizational Affairs Council Outstanding Service Award, the FSHP Regional Society President of the Year Award, several SFSHP Outstanding Service Awards for various positions held, the Pharmacist Outstanding Achievement Award from Merck Human Health Division, and the Jackson Heath System Award for Significant Professional Achievement. She is actively involved in several professional associations, including the American College of Clinical Pharmacy, American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, and the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Society.
