The North Broward Hospital District (NBHD) Board of Commissioners, which oversees Broward Health, elected its officers at the October board meeting. Andrew M. Klein was re-elected Chairman, Christopher Ure was re-elected Vice Chair and Ray Berry was re-elected Secretary/Treasurer. Additional board members serving the NBHD are Steven Wellins, Nancy Gregoire and newly appointed commissioner Stacy Angier.

“This is an exciting time for our Board and the Broward Health system,” said Klein. “Broward Health is poised to accomplish great things with the opening of new hospital facilities, expansion of our surgical robotics program, enhancement of women’s and children’s services and continued improvement of our quality indices and operational efficiencies – all while reducing expenses and cutting taxes.”

Under the board’s guidance, Broward Health has in the past 12 months trimmed more than $30 million from the budget, reduced taxes by approximately $20 million and opened $116 million in capital improvement projects for women’s and children’s services.

“I am very proud of the accomplishments achieved by the Board and management team in the past year,” said Gino Santorio, acting president/chief executive officer of Broward Health. “We were able to reduce costs while improving the quality of our healthcare and access to that care.”
