May 6, 2020 – North Shore Medical Center welcomes Marcela Sweeney as its new hospital assistant chief nursing officer. In her new role, Sweeney will be responsible for daily nursing operations, oversight of patient care areas and assisting with the management of resources and strategic planning for clinical service lines. She will ensure the sustainment of continuous performance improvement initiatives, as well as promote and improve a culture of safety and excellence.
 
Sweeney has more than 11 years of experience in her nursing career. For the last year and a half, she has served as the assistant chief nursing officer at sister facility, Coral Gables Hospital. Sweeney was directly responsible for emergency services, education, informatics, endoscopy and nursing administration.

Sweeny earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Miami-Dade College and is currently working on her Masters in Nursing and Health Care Administration.  She is also a member of the ACHE, ENA, ANA and AONE.
