Nicole Florez-Furmanski, RN, began her career working in physician offices, first as a receptionist and then as an office manager, before pursuing her lifelong dream of becoming a nurse. Her journey is a testament to her dedication, fortitude and commitment to the nursing profession.
As a quality management specialist and a sepsis coordinator, Florez-Furmanski’s responsibilities include reviewing all sepsis cases and all mortalities, reviewing cases for nurse peer review and tracers on each unit, leading committee meetings and working with risk management on investigations.
Florez-Furmanski says that the most important part of her job is ensuring that nurses and providers follow best practices for the safety and treatment of patients. “Being a nurse is not just a job or career, it’s who I am,” she said. “I love helping people and making a difference in their lives.”
Florez-Furmanski earned her Associate in Arts in Nursing from Miami Dade College, an Associate of Science in Nursing from Azure College and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from St. Thomas University.
