The Palm Beach County Medical Society Services presented the 8th Annual Heroes in Medicine Awards on , Wednesday, May 11 at the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach, Cohen Pavilion.
The Heroes in Medicine Awards honor those who make outstanding contributions to others in the field of health care and to the community without expecting anything in return. Proceeds from Heroes in Medicine benefit ProjectAccess, a community-based program to increase access to health care for theuninsured.
The 2011 Heroes of Year Awards were presented in the following categories.
Community Outreach Heroes: American Association of Caregiving Youth
Bruce Rendina Professional Heroes: Richard Busto, Autism Project Palm Beach County
Healthcare Provider Heroes: Susan Korman, ARNP, Florida Resource Center for Women and Children
Physician Heroes (Local): Malcolm Dorman, M.D.
Physician Heroes (International): Chauncey W. Crandall IV, M.D.
Student Heroes: Geoffrey Campbell
A lifetime achievement award was presented to Charles Moore and a Posthumous Award to Richard Bruno M.D.
