With more than $6 million invested in some of the newest state-of-the-art equipment along with improvements to the interior and exterior of the facility, Palmetto General Hospital recently unveiled its newly renovated Oncology Treatment Center. Part of the new equipment offered at the Oncology Treatment Center is the new linear accelerator that allows the medical staff to offer advanced radiation therapy to target radiation to cancer cells, helping patients to experience less side effects and decrease damage to normal cells.
The Oncology Treatment Center is dedicated to providing patients with comprehensive and compassionate cancer care. The center’s multidisciplinary team of physicians and support staff focus on prevention, early detection and innovative treatment options for patients. Some of the patient services offered at the Oncology Treatment Center include: High-Dose Rate (HDR) Brachytherapy, Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT) with Cone-Beam CT, as well as RapidArc Radiotherapy.
The Oncology Treatment Center also provides comprehensive information and image management solutions that allow the medical staff to oversee all aspects of oncology care for patients, as well as comprehensive state-of-the art treatment planning system for all types of treatment including 3D conformal, intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), electrons, and brachytherapy.
