Park Royal Hospital is pleased to announce that Dr. Asaf Aleem has joined the Park Royal team as chief medical officer. Dr. Aleem has more than 30 years of experience in the field, having been board-certified in adult psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology since 1987.

Prior to taking on this role, he served as medical director and director of ECT at Peachford Hospital in Atlanta and as assistant professor in the psychiatry departments of Emory University and Wayne State University. As chief medical officer, Dr. Aleem aims to raise the level of behavioral health treatment in the Fort Myers area.

“Our goals are to offer the best possible care to our patients, improve all of the individualized services we provide, and become a resource in our community for patients, families, and physicians’ groups,” says Dr. Aleem. “We are looking to expand our medical staff as we develop more specific services directed at treatment-resistant depression, such as ECT and TMS. We want Park Royal Hospital to be the leading provider of behavioral health treatment throughout southwest Florida.”

Dr. Aleem is a member of the American Psychiatric Association, Georgia Psychiatric Physicians Association, International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies, and American Geriatrics Society. He specializes in electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), graduated from Maulana Azad Medical College in New Delhi, India, and was a research fellow with Washington University School of Medicine.
