When a company needs to have a package delivered, it is important that its courier company be professional and dependable. When that package contains something as sensitive as medication or the materials needed for a heart transplant, it’s even more important that the courier be up to the delivery challenge.

Errand Express, located in Margate, Florida, has earned a reputation for meeting client expectations for more than 19 years. As a company that specializes in hand-delivery and stat services, the courier company serves the state of Florida and beyond.

“We deliver packages from Miami to Jacksonville and from Florida to London,” said Alice Kotsakis, the owner of Errand Express since 2002. “And we can deliver anything from an envelope to a truckload.”

Errand Express’ major clients include the courts and legal firms, aircraft parts buyers and manufacturers, architectural engineers and advertising firms, and a lot of healthcare and hospital professionals. Kotsakis, who has worked in the courier field since the age of 18, says that excellent service and superior pricing set Errand Express apart from their competitors. “We believe in very personalized service—when a client calls, they never talk to a machine,” she said. “Our phones are staffed 24/7.”

Errand Express is also different in that, unlike some companies, they do not operate out of a hub. “We are not a sorting center,” Kotsakis explained. “When our driver picks up a package, he or she delivers it directly to the recipient. It doesn’t go to a central hub where it is sorted and has the possibility of being lost.”

Though Errand Express is headquartered in Margate, the company has independently contracted drivers all over the state. About 30 drivers serve Dade, Broward and the Palm Beach areas, with another five serving Orlando and 30 more in Tampa. “We’re really proud of the fact that we have a very low turnover,” said Kotsakis. “About 90 percent of our contractors have been with us since the day I came here. It’s a good crew, and our clients trust us because they’ve known us for so many years.”

When a customer calls, his or her package is picked up by a trained, uniformed Errand Express driver, each of whom is also OSHA-trained and approved. Only experienced drivers handle rush or emergency materials, including X-rays, blood, transplant organs, medications and other health-related items. “A lot of times, hospitals need to have these materials picked up and delivered within two hours, and we specialize in making that happen,” said Kotsakis.

Soon Errand Express will expand to offer even more services to their clients when the company moves to a new facility in Palm Beach. “In January, we will be moving to Palm Beach where our facility will include offices and a warehouse combined,” said Kotsakis. “There, we will be able to offer fully secured storage for our customers.”

In addition to cages for storage, which will be monitored by indoor and outdoor cameras, the facility will also include a refrigerated area where medications or other sensitive health-related materials can be stored. “Providing storage services will be a new adventure for us,” said Kotsakis of the specialized facility that is currently under construction.

In the meantime, Errand Express will continue to meet client expectations out of their Margate facility. “Whether we’re in Broward or Palm Beach, our service will still be the same,” said Kotsakis. “We have drivers everywhere.”
