Jose Martinez, M.D., a cardiologist with over 24 years of experience in South Florida healthcare, serves as the chief medical officer for Broward Health Medical Center.
He was inspired at a young age to pursue medicine. “My father was a physician, and I admired how he applied his knowledge to assist others,” Dr. Martinez said. “I find the field of medicine fascinating; it intertwines science, clinical skills and a drive to serve for the good of others.”
Dr. Martinez is responsible for translating the administrative vision, strategy and initiatives to the medical staff at the 716-bed hospital.
“It motivates me to know my experience can help restore health or provide comfort in difficult times,” Dr. Martinez said.
Dr. Martinez earned his medical degree at Ponce School of Medicine in Puerto Rico and holds a MBA in Healthcare from Florida International University, an M.A. in Theology from St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary and an M.S. in Bioethics from St. Thomas University. His residency and fellowships include internal medicine, cardiology and interventional cardiology at the University of Miami and Jackson Health System.
