Dr. Irma Forghani is a renowned expert in genetics, specializing in adult inherited and complex disorders. As the Director of Genetics at Mount Sinai Medical Center, she combines exceptional clinical expertise with a commitment to advancing the field through research. Dr. Forghani earned her medical degree from Isfahan University of Medical Sciences in Iran and completed her residency in internal medicine at the University of Oklahoma, followed by a fellowship in medical genetics at the University of California Medical Center. Board-certified by the American College of Medical Genetics and the American Board of Internal Medicine, she focuses on hereditary connective tissue disorders, vascular malformations, and hereditary cancer syndromes. Prior to joining Mount Sinai, Dr. Forghani was an associate professor at the University of Miami, where she founded the Hereditary Connective Tissue Disorder Clinic and led the Cancer Predisposition Syndrome Clinic. A respected researcher, she has authored numerous articles and co-investigated the NIH-funded Undiagnosed Diseases Network study.
