Funds to support organizations addressing food insecurity and other social determinants of health
May 27 2020 – The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the lives of all Americans, and residents of South Florida are no exception. In an effort to support Prestige Health Choice members during this difficult time, the Medicaid health plan is donating funds and goods to organizations in its seven-county Florida service area. The donations will help provide for the needs of those affected by the pandemic.
Prestige Health Choice is making monetary donations to the following organizations:
•Feeding South Florida food bank: A $5,000 donation to provide 35,000 meals to families in need.
•Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition of Palm Beach County: A $5,000 donation to supply diapers, baby formula, and other key infant items to families in need through the organization’s Basics 4 Babies Emergency Pantry for Infants.
Prestige Health Choice has also supported the community with non-monetary donations of backpacks, diaper bags filled with multiple baby products, and messenger bags to local homeless shelters and the Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition of Palm Beach County.
Americans, even those who have not contracted COVID-19, have been affected by the pandemic in many ways. These include losing jobs, and ultimately being unable to pay for food, shelter, and other basic necessities.

And we are especially committed to communities in times of crisis,” said Prestige Health Choice Market President Kathy Warner. “So many in our state have lost jobs due to this pandemic and are now struggling to put food on their families’ tables, which is adverse to their health and well-being. We hope our contribution to support Florida’s recovery will help communities survive this pandemic and come back even stronger.”
In addition, Prestige Health Choice is showing its appreciation for its network providers’ compassion, commitment, and courage during this difficult time. For example, it is sending them thank you cards and donating supplies for use by these providers and their staffs.
