Profiles of Hospice Workers

 

Moonyueen Briggins, RN began her nursing careen in Chicago Illinois at The University of Chicago Hospitals and joined the Vitas Inpatient Unit at Broward Health North in 2013. Her main priority is to provide the very best care for her patients ensuring a peaceful, calm and supportive atmosphere. She is a Resource Nurse providing end of life guidance for families as well as compassionate patient care.

 

One example of Moon’s generous spirit was when she provided an opportunity for a dying mother to attend her daughter’s wedding by suggesting that the daughter bring a minister to the hospital. Moon got a beautiful cake from the Nutrition Services and flowers from the gift shop. The bride and groom wore their wedding finery and the ceremony went on without a hitch. The family was truly appreciative. This is just one example of how brightly the Moon shines at Vitas Health Care at BHN.

 

 

Jannette J. Sharpe-Paul joined the staff on the medical/surgical/oncology unit at the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center in 2007 and is currently Nurse Manager of the Hospice unit. She holds a BS degree in Health Service Administration from Barry University and a MSN from Florida Atlantic University. She is a Certified Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) and an Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN). For many years, she has been a member of the Association of VA Hematology /Oncology (AVAHO) and the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS), serving as President of the local chapter in 2005.

Chaplain Kim House began working at the West Palm Beach VA in October, 2010 as Staff Chaplain for the Women’s Clinic and inpatient medical wards, and currently serves as the Hospice and Palliative Care Chaplain while providing support to the Women’s Clinic.

 

Chaplain House received her undergraduate degree from Pennsylvania State University and her Master of Divinity degree from Azusa Pacific University. She was ordained in the Church of God, Anderson. In 1996, she was commissioned in the US Navy. Commander House has over 19 years of combined Naval service and is currently assigned as the Group Chaplain for Marine Forces Reserve CREDO.

 

Prior to serving as a VA chaplain, she was a missionary in Japan and a spiritual director for military retreats in Germany. Besides serving our country through VA and the Navy, she is also a wife and mother of two daughters.
