As South Florida’s oldest statutory teaching hospital, Mont Sinai is committed to expanding our educational offerings through a variety of initiatives and partnerships.
Below are a few recent program highlights:
- We recently named Gerald Rosen, M.D., as Mount Sinai Medical Center’s new Designated Institutional Official (DIO) for Graduate Medical Education. Dr. Rosen received his medical degree from the Ross University School of Medicine and has been practicing for over twenty years. A seasoned physician and educator, in addition to the DIO role, Dr. Rosen is also the program director for our anesthesiology residency program.
- With over 400 medical students on clinical rotations at Mount Sinai, we’re proud to attract individuals on a local and national level, allowing us to have a diverse student population. This year, we matched all of our 217 residency program spots, with the following programs receiving matches from Nova Southeastern University and Florida International University: anesthesiology, emergency medicine, internal medicine, general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, psychiatry, and radiology. Additionally, we have taken steps to establish a hematology oncology fellowship program at Mount Sinai.
- We are proud to announce our newly formed academic affiliation with New York Medical College, located in Valhalla, New York. This partnership will augment our ability to educate the next generation of expert physicians in South Florida, and establishes clerkship rotations for medical students in internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, psychiatry, and surgery and electives in emergency medicine, anesthesiology, and urology.
- Mount Sinai has recently received ACGME approval for the expansion of our existing ER residency complement, as well as ACCME re-accreditation for ongoing continued medical education programs. These accreditations allow our residents and fellows to develop their career holistically and engage in the broader medical community while at Mount Sinai.
We are continually striving for educational excellence, expanding our offerings and deepening our fields of study. These recent developments further cement our position as an epicenter for knowledge and allow us to teach and train physicians that will provide world-class health care.
