Many hospitals offer rehabilitation for their patients following surgery or an accident, but Memorial Regional Hospital South has taken the Rehabilitation Institute of South Florida several steps beyond the standard facility with extensive renovations. A dedication ceremony was held recently to celebrate the innovative transformation and expansion.

The comprehensive therapy facility, located on the hospital’s fifth floor, features 40 private rooms, a 2,000-square-foot cutting-edge gym and a community re-entry area – complete with a one-bedroom apartment as well as an ATM, grocery store, library and car. The gym features new robotic equipment that is designed to help treat a variety of neurological conditions.

Dr. Alan Novick, a specialist in physical medicine and rehabilitation, serves as Medical Director for the Rehabilitation Institute of South Florida at Memorial Regional Hospital South and Denise Maillet is the Administrative Director of Rehabilitation Services. The facility has been accredited by The Joint Commission and the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities.
