Roberta Kaplan
University Hospital and Medical Center

I would like to recognize Roberta Kaplan for her services as a volunteer at University Hospital and Medical Center in Tamarac. Roberta began her volunteer service at University Hospital in 2001 and has since provided over 1500 hours of service in our SMILE program. SMILE stands for “Someone Making Illness a Little Easier “and that is just what Roberta does as a volunteer. Twice a week, she visits the patients, attending to their needs while providing compassion and support to them and their families. Roberta exhibits a calming and kind demeanor to all around her. She is committed to the care of the patients and is always willing to take the necessary time and effort to alleviate the fears and anxiety that often accompanies a person being in a hospital. Her positive attitude, calmness, and composure in difficult situations are her strengths. Roberta is dedicated to the hospital and making each patient’s stay a little easier.

Roberta is a Breast Cancer survivor who volunteered for 3 years for American Cancer Society “Cancer Hotline” prior to becoming a volunteer at University Hospital. She has always looked for the good in her fellow man trying to help resolve issues and concerns in a passionate and kind manner.

At University Hospital, we are honored to have Roberta as one of our outstanding volunteers.
