May 13, 2022 – Construction firm Robins & Morton has released its second annual State of Healthcare Construction Report. The report was compiled using primary research based on interviews with healthcare executives, architects, engineers and internal company experts.

“As one of Modern Healthcare magazine’s leading construction companies, Robins & Morton is distinctly qualified to identify and explain the major trends impacting healthcare projects,” said Robins & Morton Senior Vice President Bruce Adams. “We look forward to using the insights gathered in the report to manage current challenges and take advantage of opportunities for growth.”

The 2022 report focuses on three key topics, including:

  • Managing Volatile Construction Costs: Practical Strategies
  • Resilient Building Envelopes: Moving Beyond Code
  • Lessons from the Big Room: Trust-Based Collaboration Rises

The report’s findings underscore the importance of a collaborative and integrated approach — involving clients, builders, trade contractors and design teams — in addressing escalating costs, supply chain issues and labor shortages. The report looks back at how the pandemic accelerated changes in traditional approaches to healthcare construction, and how those lessons are being applied to this new set of challenges.

The report also includes a handful of Robins & Morton’s own methodologies, projects and initiatives that have added value for clients across the country as examples. While intended to serve as a broad look at healthcare construction, much of the information is relevant to other sectors in commercial construction, as well.
