Jennifer Barreras is an emergency nurse at Broward Health North who started her nursing career as a licensed practical nurse with the U.S. Army, where she loved taking care of a variety of patients.
After her military service, Barreras continued her education to become a registered nurse. She worked in different settings including a cardiac step-down unit, an infusion center and other emergency rooms before joining Broward Health in 2023.
“I love getting to help people when they are facing the unknown,” said Barreras. “You have to be flexible, you may go from taking care of a critical patient to someone who has an earache. All patients deserve the same compassion and care.”
Barreras received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and a master’s degree in nursing – family nurse practitioner from Chamberlain College of Nursing in Downers Grove, IL.
