Haseena Khan knew as a teenager nursing was in her future, beginning with membership in a healthcare occupational club and progressing to nurse assistant while still in high school. Today, she is the nurse manager for surgical services, leading a unit at the children’s hospital and moving evidence-based practices forward.

“I’ve always been interested in the continuum of care and the opportunity to make a difference for patients and co-workers,” said Khan, who joined Memorial Healthcare System in 2011. “I’m available at all times to provide assistance as a subservient leader that can be a resource for everyone.”

Leadership has been a hallmark of Khan’s time at Memorial, with management positions in both adult and pediatric nursing. “Haseena’s clinical expertise, operational strength and genuine compassion are the foundation for the continued success of the department,” said Siobhan Davis, director of surgical services at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. “She leads with authenticity and humility, creating an environment where staff feel heard, respected and supported.”
