Sandy Heise, Lee Health volunteer, has been named Florida Hospital Association’s Volunteer of the Year. This is the first year a volunteer has been recognized at the annual FHA Celebration of Achievement in Quality and Service Awards.
For 12 years, Heise has provided support, leadership and innovation for the Lee Memorial Auxiliary, Lee Health, the Association of Florida Healthcare Auxiliaries/Volunteers (AFHAV) and Southwest Florida.
As an auxilian, Heise has served in various capacities, including fundraising chair, fundraising vice president, president-elect, president, treasurer and membership chair. At the state-level, she has served as an AFHAV board member, treasurer, trade show chair, president-elect and president.
In addition to her auxiliary service, Heise also volunteers weekly at the main lobby information desk at Lee Memorial Hospital. As a hospital volunteer, she has logged more than 10,000 hours.
