July is always an interesting month in healthcare. While many Floridians are focused on beach vacations, backyard barbecues, and fireworks displays, healthcare professionals continue their work without pause. Hospitals, health systems, physician groups, and long-term care facilities never take a holiday, and we are continually reminded that healthcare is one of the few industries that truly operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
This month’s issue focuses on several key trends affecting South Florida healthcare, including workforce development, leadership transitions, technological innovation, construction and expansion projects, and the ongoing efforts to improve patient outcomes throughout our communities. Of course, July also marks the beginning of a new fiscal year for many healthcare organizations. Healthcare executives are often masters of discretion, but if the coffee-shop chatter and conference hallway conversations are any indication, there may be a few interesting announcements coming before the end of the year.
