The Nursing Consortium of South Florida, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization, founded in 1997 that has more than 60 dues-paying member organizations including hospitals and other providers of nursing services, nursing schools, nurse staffing agencies, and hospice service providers.  The Consortium’s principal mission is to identify and address matters of concern to the nursing profession in South Florida.  Member organizations are based throughout the region, from the Florida Keys to northern Palm Beach County.  The Consortium unites nursing practice and education to foster greater collaboration by the leaders in the profession.  It also works to address the region’s need for culturally and technically competent nurses, by cultivating interest in nursing careers among middle and high school students, by improving the public perception of nursing, by facilitating the sharing of best practices in workforce development and care delivery, and by supporting increased funding for nursing education and for the implementation of strategic interventions and research aimed at establishing best practices in the recruitment, development, and retention of a quality nursing workforce well suited to South Florida’s rich diversity.
