Florida International University’s (FIU) Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing and Health Sciences has appointed Tami Thomas, PhD, RN, CPNP, RNC, FAANP, FAAN as Associate Dean of Academic Affairs.
 
The appointment marks a return to FIU Nursing for Thomas, where she was an assistant professor in the graduate nursing program from 2006 to 2008. She honed her specialization in academic administration, pediatric care, community and family health care during her time on the faculty at Emory University’s School of Nursing (2010-2014) and the University of Florida (1998-2005). As an assistant professor at Emory, she served as Director of the Doctor of Nursing Practice program and Specialty Coordinator for the Pediatric Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program. At the University of Florida, Thomas worked as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in the Student Health Care Center for the College of Medicine’s Division of Community and Family Medicine, and as a coordinator of research programs for the College of Medicine’s Division of Pediatric Nephrology.
