September 6, 2019 – Tenet Healthcare Corporation’s Florida hospitals are partnering with local EMS and city governments to collect supplies and raise funds in collaboration with The United Way of Palm Beach County, The United Way of Miami-Dade, The United Way of Broward County for the Bahamas following Hurricane Dorian.

Dorian was a record-setting storm, and it has devastated the Bahamas with flooding that has left houses destroyed, roads closed and people uncertain about their future living situations. With close proximity to Tenet’s Florida facilities, which include Coral Gables Hospital, Delray Medical Center, Florida Medical Center, Good Samaritan Medical Center, Hialeah Hospital, North Shore Medical Center Palm Beach Children’s Hospital, Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center, Palmetto General Hospital and West Boca Medical Center, the Bahamas are also home to many of our colleagues, their families and some of our patients.

“We want to remind both our communities and team members, as well as our Bahamian neighbors, that we are here for them every hour of the day, every day of the year — including chaotic weather situations,” said Jeffery M. Welch, chief executive officer of Tenet’s Miami-Dade Group and Florida Medical Center.

“Hurricane Dorian brought an unexpected hardship to the people of the Bahamas, and we are supporting them in their efforts to recover, as they rebuild their lives and community infrastructure,” said Maggie Gill, chief executive officer of Tenet’s Palm Beach Group and Delray Medical Center.

Financial contributions can be given in collaboration with The United Way of Palm Beach County, The United Way of Miami-Dade, The United Way of Broward County and the Bahamian government to assist with Hurricane Dorian recovery efforts.

Collectively, Tenet’s Florida hospitals have already pledged $5,000. These funds will be used to meet storm-related needs and support mid and long-term recovery efforts in the Bahamas. There will be no fees taken; 100% of the donations will go toward recovery efforts. Donations can be made through this link.
