Background screenings for DOEA organizations has migrated into the Background Screening Clearinghouse website. The DOEA oversees elder care organizations such as: Alzheimer’s disease programs, elder home care, elder abuse prevention programs, hospice, long term care services and others. The former ORI was turned off permanently on August 28, 2015. Employers still using this outdated ORI code will need a new screening and run the risk of creating duplicate expense for themselves.

The services required can only be provided by a Livescan vendor who actually submits the screening on your behalf. A1A Fingerprints is your local Livescan provider. A1A provides walk-in and mobile services for the convenience of those needing re-certification or new submissions of fingerprints.

The purpose of the clearinghouse is to provide a single data source for background screening results of persons required to be screened by law. The clearing house not only serves the DOEA, but also Medicaid providers, nurses, CNA’s, doctors, therapists (speech, occupational, massage, physical, etc), laboratory credentialing, The Agency for Persons with Disabilities, The Department of Children and Families, and more. The Clearinghouse allows the results of criminal history checks to be shared among specified agencies when a person has applied to volunteer, be employed, be licensed, or enter into a contract that requires a state and national fingerprint-based criminal history check. (section 435.12, Florida Statutes). The goal of the level 2 background check is to protect the vulnerable, including children and the elderly.

If a submission is denied, providers must complete and pay for a new fingerprint using the new ORI. “It is important to connect with a certified LiveScan provider, like A1A Fingerprints, so that you do not end up doubling your fees by using the invalid ORI,” said Lisa Jay of A1A Fingerprints. “Please remember, any provider who is unable to digitally submit the newly required headshot photo is not a fully integrated FDLE approved LiveScan provider and your background check will not proceed as required.”

For the employer, A1A Fingerprints will assist providers with their clearinghouse registration requirements, helping them to secure their new screening ID’s and also provide on-site re-certification for all employees. A1A Fingerprints can also assist with a Drug Free Workplace Program, helping employers recognize major savings on their insurance premiums.
