HCA Florida Healthcare can help Floridians reach 2023 health-related goals

January 20, 2023 – Most New Year’s resolutions are health-related according to data from Statista, which found that over the past three years, the most popular among Americans are exercising more and eating healthier. Seeking the counsel of a medical professional can help patients build a healthier future and safely reach these year-round goals. When seeking a healthcare provider for your family, here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Find care close to home
  • Review patient safety and quality rankings
  • Know how to get answers any day, any time

“We know that a new year brings renewed focus and commitment to health,” said Samuel Harris, an internal medicine specialist on staff at HCA Florida Westside Hospital. “We encourage patients who have not seen a primary care provider in recent years, or who have put off procedures, to visit their primary care physician and start 2023 on the right track.”

Find Care Close to Home

HCA Florida Healthcare is a collaborative care network with 49 hospital campuses, 11,000 physician practices, more than 570 affiliated sites of care and over 65 urgent care clinics across the Sunshine State. Patients can take comfort in knowing a comprehensive array of health services is not far away and collaboration across hospitals allows us to connect patients to the right specialists for expert care.

Review Patient Safety and Quality Rankings

HCA Florida Healthcare welcomes evaluations from third-party organizations to help patients when deciding on a healthcare provider and voluntarily reports data to The Joint Commission, FloridaHealthFinder.gov, The National Quality Forum (NQF) and The Leapfrog Group.

In 2022, only 64 Florida-based hospitals were awarded “A” grades from The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit watchdog organization that focuses on patient safety. Eighteen of those earning Leapfrog’s “A” Hospital Safety Grade — the nation’s most prestigious award for patient safety — were HCA Florida Healthcare facilities.

The Leapfrog Group Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program based exclusively on prevention of medical errors and harms to patients. Each hospital’s grade is determined using Leapfrog’s hospital survey, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ national performance measures and several other data sources.
