-Intergalactic Theme Astounds Supporters-

The Pap Corps 3rd Annual Imagination Gala, recently held at the Breakers, launched guests into an intergalactic realm via video mapping, 3-D entertainment, and other special effects. The stellar virtual experience was just one aspect of the thrilling fundraiser, which raised $465,000 for cancer research at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. The event, chaired by Janet and Mark Levy, also included a concert by Starship featuring Mickey Thomas and the presentation of The Jon Stoll Spotlight Award to Tico Torres of Bon Jovi.

“We are grateful for the tremendous accolades this event has received, said Janet Levy. “By pushing the boundaries of tech and entertainment, we captured the imagination of our guests and created a powerful connection to our cause. Our desire to be innovative and cutting-edge matches the philosophy of the doctors at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, who are consistently breaking new ground in the pursuit of more advanced life-extending treatments for cancer patients. Their determination to transform a deadly disease into a manageable one is what fuels their drive. And that passion is what makes The Pap Corps’ fundraising so incredibly important.”

While the mission of The Pap Corps was centerstage, the other-worldly décor transported guests into a fun adventure very few had ever experienced.  Inspired by the “starship” theme of the headlining band, the talented committee went into warp speed planning to create a magnificently entertaining and successful evening utilizing the latest in virtual programming and special effects. Other event highlights included inspiring speeches by Tico Torres of Bon Jovi and Mickey Thomas who spoke eloquently before rocking the crowd with his group’s massive hit list.

“We are so grateful to our dedicated chairs and host committee who devoted themselves completely to making this event a triumph, “stated Sarah Negrin, Director of South Florida. “During The Pap Corps’ past 70 years, we have witnessed success after success as groundbreaking drugs and treatments have become available.  Survivorship is on the rise and the only way that continues is with funding. Sylvester Cancer Center is the only University-based, NCI designated Cancer center in all of South Florida. Palm Beach residents are truly fortunate to have this world class, NCI designated cancer center so close by.  We are so very thankful to all those who attended our event and have given so generously to this incredible cause, including our wonderful decor sponsor The Event Group.”

About The Pap Corps:

Since its founding in 1952, The Pap Corps has donated more than $110 million to Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, including a historic $50 million pledge in 2016. The Pap Corps derives its name from Dr. George Papanicolaou, a pioneer in cytopathology and early cancer detection, who introduced the world to the revolutionary ‘Pap’ test. A small group of women began the organization to support his efforts, and over the decades it has grown into an organization of over 20,000 men and women, in over 50 chapters, who raise funds to support research for all types of cancers.
