The Residences of United HomeCare, Miami’s newest senior living community, scheduled to open in West Kendall this April, is part of a growing trend in assisted living that combines luxury amenities with quality health care support services in a community setting. More than just niceties, these upscale amenities, like cafés, concierges, fitness centers, salons and restaurant-style dining, are becoming essential for attracting seniors who need assisted living but want to maintain their independence. The four-story, 89,000-square-foot structure is located on 2.6 acres of land neighboring the West Kendall Baptist Hospital and is part of the planned Kendall Town Center complex. Its size and level of service is in sharp contrast to most of Miami-Dade’s nearly 1,000 assisted living accommodations which average six to eight residents. Unlike most, The Residences provides a wide range of services such as trained, licensed and certified professionals on premise, individualized care management, and 24/7 access to medical and nurse staff.
 
In addition, residents are treated to a spectrum of upscale amenities typically associated with high-end homes or condominium residences. These include restaurant-style dining in a spacious 2,200-square-foot hall and a café serving coffee and light snacks, such as mini-sandwiches and small pastries. A nearly 1,000-square-foot Wellness Center housing gym equipment, free weights and an array of physical therapy equipment. The Life Enrichment Center includes a library and computer stations, plus residents have access to a dedicated Arts and Crafts Center, beauty salon and barber shop, laundry and concierge.
