December 18, 2019 – The Holy Cross Hospital Women Owning Wellness (WOW!) committee hosted the 12th Annual “This One’s for the Girls!” Luncheon at the Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort, raising nearly $80,000 for the non-profit hospital’s Partners in Breast Health program.
Since 2011, Holy Cross Hospital’s Partners in Breast Health at the Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women’s Center has provided outreach education, mammograms, clinic breast exams, diagnostic procedures and information on reconstructive services to over 5,000 uninsured, low income women that lack access to proper healthcare services. Partners include the Harry T. Mangurian, Jr. Foundation, WOW!, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the 1000+ Club to Benefit Cancer and American Cancer Society, among others.
This year, the “This Ones for the Girls! Luncheon” kicked off with champagne, hors d’oeuvres and shopping at boutique vendors and popups from local stores. Guests enjoyed a raffle for gift certificates from local restaurants and other items from the boutiques during a beautiful lunch. Guests also were treated to an inspiring speech by City of Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue Chief Rhoda Mae Kerr, the first female fire chief of Fort Lauderdale Fire Department.
WOW! Committee members Jennifer Andreas, Jeanne Del Vecchio and Valerie Harvey co-chaired the luncheon. Honorary chairs were Alice Jackson, Mary Mullen and Sheri Whittington. Chair Eternal is the late Doreen Koenig.
Major sponsors were AutoNation and City Furniture. Supporting sponsors were Tropic Supply, Ruud Air Conditioning and the Del Vecchio Family and Upchurch Management McDonald’s. Associate sponsors were Gold Coast Beverage and Sheri Whittington. Joan Friezo and Jessica Reimers were underwriting sponsors and the beverage sponsors were Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits and Tito’s Handmade Vodka.
