While the upfront costs of “Going Green” can be significant, there are several opportunities to earn your LEED Certification that dont come with a huge price tag.
- Select a construction site that has access to public transportation and provide bicycle storage & changing rooms at your facility. (2 points)
- Make sure that your contractor is recycling and earn extra points for diverting up to 75% of construction waste from the landfills. (2 points)
- Purchase 20% of building materials from manufacturing plants within a 500 mile radius. (2 points)
Striving for a LEED Certification is certainly a challenge, but the energy savings and marketing opportunities that will come as a result of this achievement are tremendous.
