Thomas J. Balkany, M.D., Hotchkiss Professor and Chairman of the Department of Otolaryngology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, has received a Presidential Citation from the American Academy of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery.
Balkany is considered a world leader in the use of cochlear implants. He has built the program at the Miller School of Medicine into one of the busiest and most comprehensive in the country, having implanted more than 1,000 children and adults with the device.
