Women in Distress of Broward County, Inc. (WID) has announced plans to expand its emergency beds and services on a new, consolidated Jim and Jan Moran Family Center Campus located in Deerfield Beach.

In December, Women in Distress, finalized the purchase of a 6.4 acre site with five buildings totaling more than 64,000 square feet at 4700 NW 3rd Avenue, a property that previously had operated as an assisted living facility.

With this expansion, the administrative, outreach and shelter operations all will move to the new Jim and Jan Moran Family Center campus that will have 100 emergency shelter beds, with additional capacity to provide as many as 132 beds. The Thrift Store, which helps support the programs and services offered by the agency, will continue to operate in its current location. The three current buildings owned by the agency are up for sale.
