Angela “Angie” Reid, BSN, RN, has spent more than 30 years caring for patients, but her role has changed quite a bit over the years. Reid began as a traveling nurse and later worked as a staff nurse, charge nurse and assistant manager. In 2018, she moved into case management. Today, she is an acute care case manager at Holy Cross Health. Her years in nursing taught her to look beyond the immediate medical needs of a patient. As a case manager, Reid works with patients, families and their care teams to figure out what they will need once they leave the hospital. Sometimes that means arranging services or finding community resources. Other times, it means slowing down and making sure a patient or family understands what comes next. Reid enjoys sharing her knowledge and answering colleagues’ questions, particularly as they take on new responsibilities. While working full time and raising her family, Reid went back to school, earning her associate degree in Toronto, Ontario and her bachelor’s degree from Chamberlain University in 2019. As a sign of appreciation, her department named her Employee of the Month.
