The City of Westlake has paved the way to secure its first medical facility to serve the residents of the city and Central Palm Beach County.
City council members recently approved a site plan for a 10,379-square-foot Freestanding Emergency Department (FED) with room for future expansion of a 2,000-square-foot medical office building.
The 5.66-acre site will be sold by Minto Communities to Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS) to develop the facility, which will be located at 16400 Persimmon Boulevard at the intersection with Seminole Pratt Whitney Road. Construction is expected to begin by the end of the year.
“This is our first significant non-residential project to date at Westlake and the first major expansion of Wellington Regional Medical Center outside of its current campus,” said Minto Vice President John Carter. “In the early stages of our community development for Westlake, we have started the process of creating essential services for our future residents and those who already live in the surrounding communities.”
Carter continued: “Central Palm Beach County is the only region in the county that is not within a 10-to 15-minute drive of a medical center emergency department. The FED in Westlake will have an immediate benefit to families living in central Palm Beach County that need emergency medical care.”
Minto also has plans to develop a town center which will become the new downtown for the central part of the county.
