May 12, 2022-  People who have type O+ and O- blood are urged to donate immediately in Collier County to help replenish the Community Blood Center’s limited supplies caused by a sudden increase in usage by area patients. Nationally supplies remain below par and local donors are the only source for the community’s blood supply. Donors can give the gift of life at the following locations:

  • At Community Blood Center’s Donor Center: 11190 Health Park Blvd. Naples, FL 34110, located inside NCH North Naples Hospital near the Brookdale entrance. Hours of operation: Monday, Thursday, & Friday: 8 AM – 4 PM, Tuesday: 11 AM -7 PM (closed Wednesday, Saturday, & Sunday). No appointment necessary.
  • On the Bloodmobile: Find a blood drive location at givebloodcbc.org

Blood can be safely donated every 56 days. The minimum age to give blood is 16 with parent present, but there is not an upper age maximum. Donors must weigh at least 110 pounds, should eat prior to giving blood, and must be well hydrated. Photo ID and face masks are required at donation time. The entire process from registration to refreshment takes about 45 minutes. The actual blood draw only takes approximately 7 minutes. Each pint of donated blood can save up to thee lives! Visit www.givebloodcbc.org or call (239) 624-4120 for additional information. All blood products collected by the Community Blood Center, an affiliate of NCH Healthcare System,  remain within the community to benefit local patients in need. CDC & FDA guidelines are being followed.
