April 7 2020 – During the coronavirus pandemic, physicians and other frontline health care professionals are facing financial hardships, including layoffs and reduced revenue. Small practices are particulary vulnerable as they already were operating on thin margins before the pandemic.  
 
The AMA and other physician organizations are urging HHS to provide one month of revenue to each physician, nurse practitioner, and physician assistant enrolled in Medicare or Medicaid to account for financial losses and non-reimbursable expenses.
