For the second year in a row, nine students, faculty, and staff from the Master of Science program in Anesthesiology at Barry University got involved in a community outreach program called “Breaking Bread, Breaking Barriers.”

The group prepared and served brunch for 200 homeless men, women and children at the Broward Partnership for the Homeless (BPHI) facility in Fort Lauderdale.

Founded in 1997, in response to the burgeoning number of homeless in Broward County, BPHI provides comprehensive services to assist homeless adults and families in promoting self-sufficiency and independence, and in supporting their dignity and self worth in the community’s efforts to reduce homelessness.
